It’s all began with a question from a good friend,Where would you like to go?In the bustling heart of Joburg,my spontaneous reply was “Rustenburg” with the clock ticking past two pm,we hit the road in an Audi A3, Embarking on unexpected adventure.
As the urban chaos of Rosebank faded in a rearview mirror, we made a pit stop for a quick bite at Chicken Licken and indulged in some ice cream, setting the tone for a laid-back journey. Leaving the city behind the landscape transformed, revealing the serene beauty of Rustenburg.
The drive past Hartebees Dam presented an option but my version to dams led us to bypass the scenic detour. Rustenburg’s charm evident in its pictucturesque surrounding seemed like haven for raising kids,a stark contrast to the hustle of Joburg.
Arriving in Rustenburg CBD under the scorching January sun,the search for water became a priority. Wimpy became our refuge offering a delightful meat platter that we savored, however the small town vibe meant early closures prompting us to grab a take away as the town settled into its evening calm.
Heading back to the city,we encountered unexpected traffic. A spontaneous decision to take an alternative route turned the journey into suspenseful escapade. A seemingly deserted road heightened the cinematic feel until a chance encounter with a farmer broke the cerie silence reassuring us that the civilization was not far off.
Arriving in the city late,I couldn’t help but reflect on the stark contrast between the peacefulness of small towns and the constant buzz of the city. Rustenburg with its scenic landscapes and unhurried pace had provided a refreshing escape from the refreshing escape from the urban grind- a day that turned out an ordinary trip into an unforgettable experience.
